Letter from Periauger:
Manteo Tuesday, 31 August
Today was a work day for Bill, John, Kent and Bert. They worked long and hard to fit my new solid mast, which has a larger, stronger step and is wider through the partners (the hole in the thwart or seat).
They had a lot of help from Carroll Williams and Robbie Putnam, two employees of the museum. (Robbie is the interim Master of Elizabeth II and of the Silver Chalice, and is a licensed Master Mechanic. Carroll is the Maintenance Supervisor for the Festival Park complex.)
I slept most of the day while the marking, chiseling and sawing was going on. Thank goodness for John's anesthetic!
I think Kent's photos tell it all.
Tonight I will rest and dream of being in the water again.
